Bukit Panjang, often abbreviated as Bt Panjang, is a residential town and a planning area. It is located in Western Singapore. A section of this town is situated on a low-lying hill. Bukit Panjang has an approximate elevation of 36 meters. It is a quiet town compared to many other cities like Toa Payoh and Ang Mo Kio. - Hai Xian Zhu Zhou
It is located at the Kopitiam at Blk 163A, Gangsa Road. The name means Seafood Porridge, and it opens from Friday to Wednesday from 4 AM-2.30 PM and closes on Thursdays. It mainly sells pork, minced pork, vegetables, prawns, and razor clams.
- Zhenghua Nature Park
This park is not so big (size of 16 football fields) and consists of densely packed trees and some shrubs that are well pruned to give you the wild feeling. This park is home to squirrels, macaques, lizards, and over 35 bird species. The park also features the world’s tallest orchid plant.
It also features a children’s play area, public toilets, an exercise section, and a pavilion.
- Glow-in-the-dark path
This path is made of minerals that absorb UV light during the day and produce a light glow at night. Bukit Panjang boasts of being the only place in Singapore with such a path.
- Bukit Panjang Public Library
Usually, many libraries have different sections for adults and children but with the same entrance. This is not the case at Bukit Panjang Public Library as it has two entrances (one for the kids and the other for the adults).
- Supper spots
Bukit Panjang has supper spots that open to as late as 3 AM. Some of these spots are;
- Spruce (Old Bukit Timah Fire Station)-open till 1 AM every night and till 2 AM on Saturdays, with live music on selected nights.
- Al-Azhar-it is an Indian-Muslim restaurant that is popular with Prata and some Western food like fish, chips, and pasta. It operates 24/7.
- Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf- located at 380 Upper Bukit Timah Road, and it is open till 1 AM on Fridays and Saturdays.
- Chestnut Nature Park
It is Singapore’s biggest nature park. It has a seven-story tower and beautiful bike trails. It also has a 5.6 kilometers hiking trail that is split into two, the North and the South. The south trail heads back to the main road and doesn’t have any attractions, while the North trail is the one that leads to the Observation Tower.
- Pang Sua Pond
It is in the middle of Bukit Panjang. The unique thing about Pang Sua Pond is the 480-meter boardwalk that is very popular with dog owners who like taking their dogs for walks.
It is Singapore’s 2nd largest floating wetland.
- Hindhende Quarry
It is located in Hindhede Nature Park. It features kids’ playground, a rope bridge, and a flying fox for the kids.
